NY State Senate Majority, Mapped

Over at the NY Daily Balance blog, they put together a nice map which shows the home districts of the Democratic Majority in the New York State Senate.  I’m sure that upstate concerns will be on top of their list.

Essentially, it comes down to Bill Stachowski and Antoine Thompson working to pass legislation that benefits the entirety of Western New York.  I have the same feeling that I get each time JP Losman enters the game at Quarterback for the Buffalo Bills…fear and loathing.

In other state senate news, my heart bleeds for Dale “Mr. Clout” Volker as he is stripped of his palatial state senate offices and reduces staff.  I’m also excited to learn that Sens. Stachowski and Thompson will be picking up fatter paychecks via stipend lulus for the extra hours they’re now putting in as deputy leaders of staus quo, frustration and obstinance.

Last week, he (Stachowski) was given the chairmanship of the Senate Commerce, Economic Development and Small Business Committee, which carries a $12,500 stipend. But Tuesday, he got another title: assistant majority leader for house operations, which pays a $25,000 stipend. And state law, passed by legislators themselves, allows them to take the higher of the two amounts. Stachowski previously received $20,500 as the ranking minority member of the Senate finance panel.

Smith appointed Sen. Antoine M. Thompson, a Buffalo Democrat, as deputy majority leader. That pays an extra $20,500 a year.
