The New WNYMedia.net
So, how do you like the new site? We’ve cleaned it up a bit, added some new partners and moved to a speedy new server. It’s been a busy weekend for all of us, especially for the designer, Chris Van Patten.
This version of the site moves us one step closer to the site we imagined three years ago. We’ve made some missteps along the way, but we’re now firmly back on the right track. We’ve seen online media grow in exciting new ways locally in that time and we’re excited to now have Artvoice and WECK 1230 onboard as content partners. We’re slowly building a “converged” media outlet with multiple channels, sites and platforms. The partnership begins with sharing content and we’ll move forward with some more integrated offerings in the near term.
We’re excited to unveil step one in what should be a fun process. This site reflects what many of you have asked for in surveys and comments in the past year, you helped design it!

I like it, I have only looked at it for five minutes.
I think you should make the comments link a little more intuitive, got to the end of your post and was looking for a comment link to leave a comment– not there. Instead, it was up at the “top” of the blog post. I would move it to the end and have a “leave comment” along with a “comment count” (showing how many comments) instead of just the “No comment” link. Sometimes a post with many comments will get me to read because I am curious as to what everyone is talking about.
Chris and others – Nice job. I, personally, am digging the new look. It is easier to navigate, as well. I like having the columnists out front so that I can flip back and forth between them. Well done.

Love the new design.
My only requesr is that the ‘Recent Comments’ widget on the sidebar returns. It makes figuring out if someone has posted a new comment on a post you were following a billion times easier.

Chris let me log in to his account and see the site last night and I never logged out.
I like the new design. It’s cleaner and easier to read. I’ve always wondered why you like that picture, maybe its the inquisitive look on your face, but I like the site
I should note that there are still a lot of improvements to be made – we had to push it out pretty quickly due to the host problems. Over the next week there should be an improved search function, a redesigned comments section (I’m not a huge fan of the WordPress default), and more widgets. This is only the beginning
Delighted to see this new development and convergence. You even got the seal of approval from the Comptroller, which in my mind trumps six sigma in quality creds.
One thing I noticed — perhaps you’re cleaning this up behind the scenes: I prefer to use Google to find old content, but the Google links aren’t finding their way to the content under the new config.
RaChaCha: if you email me directly – chrisvanpatten @ gmail dot com with the search that isn’t working, I’ll get it fixed up. Some of the redirects are still broken and any help to track down which ones the broken ones are is greatly appreciated!
