Update from the Superintendent of Schools – updated 11/21
The Le Roy Central School District has been investigating neurological symptoms associated with a small number of students. The safety and well being of all students and school staff is our top priority.
The Le Roy Central School District has worked closely with medical professionals from Workfit Medical, the Genesee County Health Department and the New York State Health Department to investigate potential causes of the students’ illness.
The investigation has not revealed evidence of infectious or environmental causes as the origin of the students’ neurological tics. No other students or staff has reported similar symptoms. The investigation included comprehensive reviews of the students’ medical records, individual medical evaluations and testing and interviews.
Federal confidentiality law (HIPAA and FERPA) prohibits sharing individual medical histories or records.
This message has been sent to all families in the district either through the mail or will be carried home on 11/22. To respect the privacy of the students and their families, the District will not provide any further comment on this issue.
