Western New York was selected as one of four regions around the state for a share of a $200 million in economic development funding.
Western New York was selected along with regional councils representing central New York, the north country and New York City.
Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said the new regional approach is meant to help end a New York mind-set that he called an “arrogance where we just assumed business would be here.”
“We learned the hard way that businesses are not cemented into the foundation,” he said of a global economy.
