Evgeni Nabokov earned his 300th NHL win after Michael Grabner scored the go-ahead goal with three minutes left, and the New York Islanders beat the Buffalo Sabres 4-2 on Saturday night.

Grabner’s 12th goal of the season, on a rebound in front in goalie Jhonas Enroth, gave the Islanders (16-20-6) their fourth win in five home games. The 36-year-old Nabokov made 23 saves to become the 26th NHL goalie with 300 wins.

Buffalo’s Thomas Vanek hit the post on a penalty shot with 1:24 remaining before Grabner closed out the scoring with an empty-net goal. The Sabres (19-20-5) are 9-15-5 in their last 29 games, a stretch in which they have not won two in a row.

Nabokov recorded 293 wins during a decade with the San Jose Sharks before joining the Islanders this season after being claimed off waivers last January. Only Martin Brodeur, Nikolai Khabibulin and Roberto Luongo have more wins among active goalies.
