A waved-off goal in the first period set the tone of the rest of the game as the Boston Bruins lost 6-0 to the Buffalo Sabres on Feb. 8, the first time the Bruins dropped a decision in the third of a six-game series against the division rivals. The Bruins are now 4-5-1 in their last ten games and have not won more than two straight games at a time since defeating the Montreal Canadiens on Jan. 12.
Following a passionate start that had Shawn Thornton fighting Cody McCormick about two minutes into the game and earning his 100th career fighting major along with the takedown, the Bruins were making a fairly strong effort to get on the boards after Buffalo’s Christian Ehrhoff scored first with a wrister all the way from the blueline, assisted by Tyler Myers. Milan Lucic also got in a fight, taking down Patrick Kaleta, who later earned a ten-minute misconduct in a different scrum.
