Shawn Thornton seemed to be the only Bruins player that showed up to the rink tonight in Buffalo and did his job against the Sabres. Buffalo destroyed the B’s by a final score of 6-0, but Thornton provided some destruction of his own after dropping the gloves with Mike Weber late in the second period.
Thornton landed two heavy left-handed haymakers to Weber’s jaw, sending him crashing to the ice soon after the bout started. As Bruins fans, we’ve come to expect performances like this from Thornton when the B’s need a big boost of energy. Tonight, though, Thornton was the only Bruin who held up to his end of the deal.
