A solicitation published this week to micro-blogging service Twitter by the Obama campaign, promoting Obama 2012 sweatshirts and other apparel, was seemingly too much for two Obama critics to endure without comment.

Appearing on Fox Business last night, former CNN pundit Lou Dobbs accused President Barack Obama of creating and perpetuating the national controversy over the killing of Trayvon Martin to further his own political aspirations. His guest, Fox News psychologist Dr. Keith Ablow, naturally agreed and took the logic a step further, suggesting that the president has “got it in for this country.”

“It’s irresistible to this president to enter the fray when there seems to be an opportunity for a kind of furious splitting,” Ablow said. “How can I make a comment that aligns with those I feel are oppressed, and aligns with those I feel have been oppressive? That is a call to the president that he can’t seem to resist.”

Responding to a reporter’s question during a press conference last week, President Obama remarked that if he had a son, “he would look like Trayvon Martin.” The remark came shortly after federal investigators became involved in the case. Obama went on to say that Martin’s parents “are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves and we’re going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened.”

Ablow, who’s said previously that he believes the president is pursuing his own “communist manifesto,” went on to say that the president’s hypothetical son would look “nothing like Trayvon Martin,” as if that were somehow relevant to the discussion.

“What about the united view, that everybody appreciates what it is to lose a son of any color?” he asked. “What about that? We can’t get that from this president.”

Dobbs replied that wall-to-wall media coverage by the national press, which elevated the Martin killing weeks ago, was not actually driving the controversy, but that “those who are seemingly trying to exploit this situation” were.
