the Executive Committee of the Erie County Democratic Committee convened to unanimously endorse candidates for two newly apportioned New York State Senate seats.

The Executive Committee chose Democrat Mike Amodeo of Hamburg to take on Republican Mark Grisanti of Buffalo in the 60th District of the New York State Senate.

“Mike is a young professional who is committed to providing a new generation of leadership from Western New York in our state’s capital,” said Democratic Chairman Len Lenihan.

“Other candidates in this race have had their chance and have been part of the old system for decades, increasing sales and property taxes, while cutting essential services like libraries, parks, and culturals, said Lenihan. “It’s time for a fresh approach.”

The committee also endorsed incumbent Senator Tim Kennedy (D-Buffalo) who is seeking his second term in the New York State Senate.

“Tim Kennedy has quickly established himself as a hard-working, issue-oriented legislator who has gained the respect of party leadership on both sides of the aisle, said Lenihan. “He has a bright future ahead of him and we are happy to support his reelection.”

The meeting was held in the Ellicott Square Building in Buffalo. Chairman Len Lenihan presided over the meeting.
