Senator Timothy M. Kennedy, D-58th District, announced that he is teaming up with local healthcare providers and advocates to sponsor an event to discuss opportunities to improve community health. The Community Conversation on Health Equity will be held Saturday, May 5 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the OLV Senior Neighborhood at 55 Melroy Ave. in Lackawanna.

Senator Kennedy invites all Lackawanna residents to attend the event. Because space is limited at the OLV Senior Neighborhood, all who would like to attend are asked to RSVP by calling HealthConnection at 716-447-6205.

“Our Community Conversation on Health Equity will help us take steps forward in our efforts to improve community health,” said Senator Kennedy. “Everyone should have access to high-quality, affordable health care, regardless of who they are or where they live. This event will help lead to healthier families and a healthier community here in Lackawanna. Please join us for our Community Conversation.”

This event is given in partnership with the Health Equity Coalition of the P2 Collabortaive of WNY, Catholic Health, the Lackawanna Ministerial Alliance, NYS AFL-CIO and the Citizens of Lackawanna’s Future.

Catholic Health will be on site from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. providing free vascular health screenings. Reservations are required for health screenings. Please RSVP by calling HealthConnection, 716-447-6205.

The event will include a presentation of community health data, an exploration into health equity, a group discussion on community health and the formulation of a plan to address community health concerns. The discussion will be led by the Health Equity Coalition of WNY.

The Community Conversation on Health Equity is a free event with healthy refreshments available.
