In his July periodic filing, career politician Chuck Swanick reported receiving thousands of dollars from groups outside the 60th Senate District. Only five individual donors were listed as living in the 60th Senate District.  In addition, Swanick received a contribution of $16,800 from Sean Fieler of New Jersey, well above the legal limit for non-family members ($6,500).

Mr. Fieler is a major Republican donor and hedge fund manager who, according to the FEC, has donated heavily to Republicans and right wing causes in the past. What’s more, disgraced political operative Steve Pigeon also showed his support for Swanick with a $6,250 donation from Landen Associates, a company based out of Pigeon’s home[1].

Pigeon recently served as the $150,000 a year legislative counsel to convicted felon and former State Senator Pedro Espada, who is currently awaiting sentencing.

“With donors such as these, I think the people of the 60th district have a clear picture of the kind of Senator Chuck Swanick aims to be. We need fresh blood and new leadership in Albany, not a return to the dark days of corruption and dysfunction” said opponent Mike Amodeo.
