Bombmaking Material Found in Amherst Home

Duncan Badding of 66 Williamsburg Square has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and reckless endangerment, first degree.Officers were called to one of the units at 66 Williamsburg Square about 6 p.m. Wednesday, for a report of a man shooting a rifle at bottles in his backyard, Amherst Assistant Police Chief Charles Cohen said.

Defense Secretary Visits Niagara Falls Airbase

U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta was in Niagara Falls this morning and affirmed his commitment to the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station.

“We are committed to maintaining this base for the future,” Panetta said during a visit this morning at the base. “We are counting on this base. It’s important geographically, it’s important to our mission going forward.”


Parolee Flees in Officers Car

Police are on the lookout for Demone Frazier. Police say Frazier  was involved in a “serious incident” with the parole officer during a residence verification check early this morning. The parole officer was unharmed, but Frazier stole the officer’s vehicle and is believed to have taken off with a gun. At some point, Frazier abandoned the vehicle, but still remains at large.

Erie County Fair Opens

Last night was opening night of the Erie County Fair.  It runs this year till August 19th.
