A former member of the Buffalo Common Council, Brian Davis will spend the next year and one day in jail for stealing money from an organization that received federal funds while he was in office.

Brian Davis pled guilty this past May to taking over $48,000 from multiple organizations from 2006-2010.

In addition to the jail sentence, Davis will also be on two-years surpervised release and must make $48,237 in restitution to the City of Buffalo.

Davis could have faced up to 10 years in prison and/or a $250,000, but under federal sentencing guidelines he was only sentenced to one year and one day.

As part of his plea, Davis will have to cooperate with federal agents probing other potential cases of corruption at city hall.
