Yesterday, following the FBI reports ranking Buffalo as the 11th most dangerous city in the country, Erie County Legislature Chairwoman Betty Jean Grant and Legislator Timothy Hogue called for the mayor to lead Buffalo out of crime. Sergio echoes the Legislators’ desire with the following comments.
“I applaud the efforts of our local lawmakers, who simply want leadership from the administration about an issue that has become an epidemic in our city.
“The mayor and his appointed police commissioner are out of touch with the current reality facing the residents of Buffalo. Anyone who says Buffalo streets are safer has not spent enough time on Buffalo streets.
“How can we begin to solve a problem when Mayor Brown and Commissioner Derenda won’t even address it.”We can start by appointing a qualified police commissioner who at the very least meets the minimum requirements we have for our police officers.”I am prepared to take ownership over the issue of crime. Someone has to.”
