Today, Community Canvases is excited to unveil the artists chosen for the first ten signal boxes  along Tonawanda Street. Following an overwhelming response from local artists to our Request for Qualifications, we were tasked with narrowing down the applicants to a group whose artwork, we believe, will  best represent and accentuate the personality and charm of Buffalo’s North District.

Please join us in congratulating Elyssa Harper, Max Collins Art, OGRE, Kaitlyn Little, Autism Services, Inc. of Western New York, George Grace, Elaine O’Toole, Russell Mott, Buffalo Custom Art and Cindy Van Ens!

Artists were approved by board members based on portfolios provided and are currently submitting official sketches  under the signal box dimensions. The project, funded by North District Council Member Joe Golombek, is eyeing a midAugust start date, once the artist’s sketches receive approval. They will then convene on Tonawanda Street and begin  painting with acrylics.

In the coming days, artist bios will appear on our website, communitycanvases.org, and Facebook  page. This is just one of the many, exciting projects Community Canvases will be initiating in the coming months!
