Inspired by the courageous heart of teenager Lauren Walier, the Make Lemon Aide Foundation (MLAF) raises funds to support the development of new treatments, advance research, and create a public forum of information exchange to improve the quality of the lives of individuals and families affected by CP. Weighing only 14 ounces at birth, now 17 year-old Lauren has CP as a result of her premature birth. From the day she was born, she has displayed courage and strength while fighting for her life, a challenge that she has embraced to this day.

Daughter of Hamburg natives Peter and Sherry Walier, Lauren began the Foundation in 2013 near Atlanta, GA in an effort to bring awareness to CP after she learned there is no dedicated Federal funding line item for CP research.

Lauren became inspired to make a difference for the 17 million individuals and families impacted worldwide by CP by “being the voice for those who do not have their own.” CP is known as the forgotten disability. Because of a strong family base still residing in Hamburg, and close ties to a wide network of local friends and extended family, a Western New York Regional Chapter of the foundation has emerged and is run by volunteer family and friend members.

A Walk/Run/Roll in Lauren’s Shoes 5K has garnered the support of both national and local sponsors and partners including Charles Schwab, Dispense-A-Med International, First Step Physical Therapy, Longboards at the Beach, Rapistak, Ray Crinzi Jewelers, Rembrandt Charms, Shermco Industries, SIGNmatic Signs and Graphics, Town of Hamburg, and Winthrop Financial Group. A wide range of local businesses are supporting MLAF as donors, advertisers and vendors.

At Lauren’s request, please “Be Courageous in everything we do and we won’t stop until we accomplish all of our goals.” Come help us accomplish our goals!
