Buffalo’s Rise Up for Climate Justice, Kick-off Rally at Niagara Square
WHAT: Western New Yorkers are mobilizing to kick off the Rise Up for Climate Justice campaign and to demand our elected leaders push for ethical climate action in Washington. This event is being planned in solidarity with Pope Francis, an outspoken supporter of climate justice, who will be addressing a joint session of Congress on September 24. The Pope stated in his Encyclical, Laudato Si, “the earth is essentially a shared inheritance, whose fruits are meant to benefit everyone.”
WHO: Speakers include Darius G. Pridgen (Buffalo Common Council President), Physicians for Social Responsibility, Sierra Club Niagara Group, WNY Interfaith Climate Justice Community, PUSH Buffalo, Seneca Nation, students and more.

WHY: Before the end of 2015, the people of the world will know if their leaders will take action on one the most critical issues of our time – climate change.
