43North–the world’s leading startup competition– announced that the winning companies from the competition’s second year have officially began operating out of the 43North incubator at 640 Ellicott Street, on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. 43North is part of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s visionary Buffalo Billion initiative.

The year two winners span a wide variety of industries and innovate technologies, including smartphone applications, medical technologies, sports training, professional services, data analysis and advanced manufacturing.

All 43North winners are required to locate in Buffalo for a minimum of 12 months.
43North has allocated $4.5 million of its available $5 million to the 2015 winners. 43North will utilize the remaining monies throughout the year for follow-on funding for its winning teams and marketing. The additional funds are available because Ithaca, NY-based 43North finalist Uma Bioseed was unable to facilitate a move to Buffalo at this time.
