The WNY Book Arts Center is excited to announce our 8th Annual Edible Book Festival:
Saturday, April 2nd, 2016 3-6pm. Registration of handmade 100% Edible Books are now open!
Buffalo, N.Y. – February 3rd, 2016 – The Edible Book Festival is an international festival held annually on or around April 1. This event unites bibliophiles, book artists, and food lovers to celebrate the ingestion of culture and its fulfilling nourishment. All books exhibited are 100% edible and handmade. Registration is now open to enter a handmade Edible Book into WNYBAC’s Eighth Annual Edible Book Festival. The festival will be held at the Western New York Book Arts Center, 468 Washington Street in downtown Buffalo, on Saturday, April 2nd, 2016 from 3-6pm. This unique family friendly event invites community members of all skill levels and ages to create and exhibit 100% edible books. The books are exhibited, documented, judged, and consumed (come hungry!).
Local celebrity judges, both in food and in the arts, are enlisted to select the winners. Prizes will be awarded and winners will be announced at approximately 5pm in the categories of: Best Book, Best Tasting, and Most Creative. Everyone is allowed to partake in eating the exhibits after judging.
In addition, WNYBAC will be offering an Edible Book Kids Craft at the festival. Guests will have the opportunity to make and eat Edible Book inspired creations! New this year, we will be hosting a Letterpress Demo in our studio, where participants can create a hand-printed card to take home with them! And, don’t miss our basket raffle as well, with items donated from local businesses and culturals.
Those who wish to enter an Edible Book can do so by visiting WNYBAC’s website: www.wnybookarts.org/events or by stopping into the WNY Book Arts Center during the hours of 12-6pm, Wednesday-Saturday at 468 Washington Street in downtown Buffalo. There is no age limitation to enter. Registration of Edible Books will be accepted until Friday, April 1st, 2016 at 5pm.
Admission to the event is $5 ($3 for members of WNYBAC). Those who submit an Edible Book to the contest receive two free admissions. Children under 5 are FREE! Proceeds from ticket sales, entry fees, and basket raffles go towards ongoing programming at the WNY Book Arts Center, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
