Starting a not- for-profit organization always seems like a good idea at the time.

However, according to National Center for Charitable Statistics, the main source of nonprofit-sector data in the United States, the reality of not-for-profits is that 35 to 45 percent fail to thrive.

Dan Burns and his partners at Working Vessels for Veterans have faced the challenges of sustaining a not-for-profit organization and after eight years, they are beating the odds. They succeed by staying focused on their dedicated mission, ” to provide veterans with the necessary tools to embark upon their civilian careers or educational pursuits”.
