Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today urged New Yorkers across upstate to prepare for winter weather, plan ahead, and drive with caution, as heavy lake-effect snow is forecast in Western New York, Central New York, and the North County beginning late Tuesday through Fridaymorning. Due to the forecast, Governor Cuomo directed the New York State Emergency Operations Center to operate at Level 4 enhanced monitoring and directed all state agencies to take precautionary measures and stand ready to mobilize personnel to respond to the storm. Heavy lake effect snow, especially downwind of Lakes Erie and Ontario will be especially difficult.

“Whether driving to work, or preparing for the holidays, I urge anyone traveling to use extra caution and be prepared for this potentially severe weather,”
Governor Cuomo said.  “Give yourself some extra time to get where you’re going, and monitor weather and travel conditions to avoid lengthy delays and  dangerous situations.”
