Tonight Legislator Burke received the Democratic endorsement for the
142nd District Assembly Seat.
“I am honored to have received the Democratic endorsement in this race for Assembly. I
believe in the Democratic principles of fighting for the Middle Class, standing with
workers, and protecting the most vulnerable. I will continue, as I have always done, to
be an independent voice for the people of this community.” Burke said of his
“The prior special election for this seat made a political uproar because an
accomplished elected official with an independent streak was passed over for an
unknown candidate with political connections. The Democrats learned from what
happened last time and made the right decision tonight.” Burke continued.
“I believe my opponent in tonight’s Democratic nomination will continue his bid for the
Assembly on the Republican line. He was Carl Paladino’s school board campaign
manager, and he worked to keep the Erie County Legislature under Republican control

back in 2015. His pursuit of the Democratic nomination was quixotic but I suspect it was
done to pay lip service to the idea that he is a Democrat in a heavily Democratic
district.” Burke said of his opponent.
