Tonawanda Coke Corporation has been found guilty of violating its probation.

This past Friday, the government argued that Tonawanda Coke violated its 2014 probation by having emissions that exceeded environmental regulations.

The company argued that its emissions are not a danger to the community.

Monday’s verdict means Tonawanda Coke was found to have a higher opacity of emissions that could create a threat to public health.

Sentencing will take place on Friday at 9 a.m. At that time, it will be determined whether or not Tonawanda Coke will be shut down.
