The best way to appreciate Buffalo’s many grain elevators is from the water! From a kayaking perspective, the massive scale of the grain elevators and silos will be even more awe-inspiring.

Join us for a kayak tour of the Buffalo River and its grain elevators in partnership with Elevator Alley Kayak, who will provide the kayaks for this urban adventure tour. Learn about the history of the grain elevators in Buffalo and have many terrific photo opportunities on this guided kayak tour!

Meet at Elevator Alley Kayak at The Barrel Factory at 65 Vandalia Street, Buffalo, NY 14204 – at the corner of Hamburg and Republic Streets, across from Gene McCarthy’s. The tour will launch from Mutual Riverfront Park, a one-block walk from The Barrel Factory.

Kayak rental is included in the tour price. All kayaks used on this tour must be from Elevator Alley Kayak; bringing your own kayak is not permitted.

TOUR DETAILS:
– This tour is approximately two and a half hours in length, including time at the beginning of the tour to review basic kayaking technique and launch the kayaks.
– Tour participants must be able to kayak approximately four miles, from Mutual Riverfront Park to Canalside and back.
– Reservations are required for this tour as a limited number of kayaks are available.
– Please print your reservation confirmation email, or be prepared to show it on your phone, for tour check-in.
– The minimum age for this tour is 14 years old.
– Cameras are encouraged but please note that there is a good chance they may get wet!

On this overview bike tour of Buffalo’s museum district, see works by some of America’s greatest architects, including Frank Lloyd Wright and Henry Hobson Richardson, set within a park and parkway system designed by celebrated landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted. Many of Buffalo’s landmark cultural attractions, including the Albright-Knox Art Gallery and Buffalo History Museum, call the Olmsted landscapes home. Along the way, admire a diverse collection of public sculpture that has been incorporated into Olmsted’s system. This tour is approximately six miles in length with frequent stops, with much of the tour along designated bike paths.

Meet at the Indian Hunter statue on the Delaware Park Ring Road, near Agassiz Circle.

-Helmets are required for all tour participants. Each tour participant must have a bicycle in good working condition; participants are also required to sign a waiver before the tour.

The Larkin District, or Larkinville, is the reborn former home of the Larkin Soap Company. In the early 1900s, the Larkin Company was one of the largest mail order companies in the country, and one of its executives, Darwin D. Martin, was responsible for bringing Frank Lloyd Wright to Buffalo.

Today, the former Larkin factories and warehouses have been brought back to life and the area is bustling with activity once again. Join us to explore the Larkin Company’s past while enjoying the revitalized neighborhood.

Meet outside Flying Bison Brewing at 840 Seneca Street, Buffalo, NY 14210, at the corner of Seneca and Lord Streets.

Due to such high demand during the 2016 season, we have already selected 3 dates with our friends at the The Mystery Company, LLC for our 2017 Murder Mystery Dinner Cruises. Be sure to book quickly as last year’s cruises sold out very quickly. The cost is $80 per person plus tax and includes a 2.5 hour cruise, cash bar, three course plated meal, and the live show by the Mystery Company, LLC.

Please note due to limited capacity, all seating will be on the main deck only and smaller groups will be asked to share tables. Each table acts as a team to solve the mystery and find the killer and prizes are awarded to the team who is correctly guesses the murderer and the motive so pay attention!

On Saturday, September 30 at 5 p.m. Canalside Buffalo will host a tasting of regional food and libations, partnering with several local restaurants, breweries and distilleries to benefit the new Explore & More Children’s Museum.

As the evening finale to our Fall Festival celebration, this ticketed event will allow up to 300 guests exclusive access to our VIP Pavilion to sample seasonal dishes from area restaurants, and specialty cocktails crafted with fall nights in mind. It’s the perfect way to get the season of crisp sunny days, full moon nights, cozy sweaters and pumpkin everything started off right. Even better, a portion of all ticket sales will go toward the creation of Explore & More, located at Canalside’s East Canal.
