Downtown Central Library Hosts Showcase for Independent Authors
Second Indie Author Day is Saturday, October 14, 2017
The Buffalo & Erie County Public Library at 1 Lafayette Square, Buffalo will host its second
    annual “Indie Author Day” on Saturday, October 14 from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Authors local to Erie County are urged to apply to participate in this free, open-to-the-public
showcase event. Space is limited and will be granted on a first come, first served basis.
Part of a national effort to connect independent authors with public libraries, “Indie Author
Day” will offer local authors visibility in a trade show format at the downtown Central Library,
where they can discuss their work, sell copies of their books, connect with other local writers and
learn more about publishing and marketing options from onsite expert speakers and nationally
    shared videos.
“There is a strong and devoted literary community here in Western New York, and we want to
shine a light on local authors,” said Library Director Mary Jean Jakubowski. “The Library has
made a commitment to include books by local writers in our collection, and we hope ‘Indie
Author Day’ will help encourage new writers – and readers – to discover and appreciate this
collection of books written by hometown authors.”
