Visiting artist Seema Kohli (India) has offered a rare opportunity for the UB and Buffalo area community to join her in a gold-leaf painting workshop. The gold-leaf painting workshop focuses on an ancient, traditional Indian art form.
Seema Kohli has been creating contemporary art for the past 35 years in mediums such as painting, murals, sculptures, experimental installation performances, films and more. Her work captures in its entirety the perpetual change, order, strength and fragility, colors and rhythm, melody and exuberance of the elemental world. Her work has redefined the basis of figurative art in India with inspiration and themes from around the globe, stories based on philosophy, creation, cosmic journeys, and the idea of oneness of being.
She has had over 30 solo shows internationally and received honors such as the Gold at Florence Biennale in 2009, the YFLO Women Achiever’s Award, and the LKA Lifetime Achievement Award for Women in 2008.
