‘It’s gone’: Elon Musk suggests without evidence that gold was ‘stolen’ from Fort Knox
Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) and Department of Government Efficiency Chair Elon Musk demanded access to the gold stored at Fort Knox.
Writing on Musk's social media platform X, Lee said he was repeatedly denied access to the facility after Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) encouraged an audit of the nation's gold stores.
"As a U.S. senator, I've tried repeatedly to get into Fort Knox," Lee wrote on Monday.
"You can't come to Fort Knox," the senator claimed he was told.
Musk responded by suggesting the gold was "stolen."
"Who is confirming that gold wasn't stolen from Fort Knox?" he asked. "Maybe it's there, maybe it's not. That gold is owned by the American public! We want to know if it's still there."

Musk shared a meme in a follow-up message: "Looking for the gold at Fort Knox... ANNND IT'S GONE."
The billionaire has said that he wanted to do a "live video walkthrough of Fort Knox."

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) received a surprising defense from a Trump-supporting attorney after "border czar" Tom Homan threatened to investigate her for allegedly impeding law enforcement.
Homan repeated Sunday that he asked the Department of Justice to look into Ocasio-Cortez's recent live webinar called "Know Your Rights With ICE," where migrants were advised on what to do if confronted by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent.
"I asked the Department of Justice, where is that line on impediment, right? It's a broad statute," Homan told CNN's Dana Bash. "Because you can call it 'Know Your Rights' all you want. We all know what the bottom line is. The bottom line is, how do they evade law enforcement?"

Attorney Jonathan Turley posted to social media Monday, "Border Czar Tom Homan doubled down last night that Rep.Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) might be prosecuted for hosting a forum on ‘Know Your Rights’ for accused illegal aliens. Such a prosecution would be an assault on free speech rights."
But Turley couldn't help but take a swipe at the ultra-liberal AOC in a second post, accusing her of being no friend to the First Amendment.
"While AOC has never been a defender of free speech, principle demands something more from the rest of us who value the First Amendment. Just as VP Vance offered a powerful defense of free speech in Europe, this baseless threat undermines the high ground achieved in Munich," Turley wrote.
The "high ground" Turley referred to was a stunning speech given by Vice President J.D. Vance at the Munich Security Council. He slammed Germany over censorship and encouraged the government to listen to the country's far-right political parties. Vance was criticized at home and abroad, with Rep. Laura Gillen (D-NY) slamming Vance as "embracing a group that flirts with Nazism."
In response to Homan's repeated threats, Ocasio-Cortez posted, "Maybe he can learn to read. The Constitution would be a good place to start."
‘Upside down’ on the runway: CNN anchor stunned by images of Delta incident
Emergency crews raced to a Delta Airlines airplane at Toronto Pearson International Airport, and the images stunned CNN anchors who remarked the plane appeared to be "upside down on the runway."
The crash happened Monday afternoon, with CNN anchor Boriz Sanchez telling viewers crews were responding to a "landing incident." The plane originated from Minneapolis, Minnesota, according to the report.
"Yeah. I mean we're calling it a landing incident but this is really serious," remarked fellow anchor Brianna Keilar.

She later added, "Ther appears to be — from afar — but we can see wheels that look — its upside down."
"Yeah it looks to me to be some kind of landing gear issue on the way down," replied safety analyst David Soucie. The plane may have slid off the runway.
CNN later reported all souls were accounted for. The number of injuries wasn't immediately known.
The most recent incident follows multiple plane crashes in the United States, with 67 people killed in a collision between an American Airlines regional jet and a military Blackhawk helicopter in Washington, D.C.
‘You’re lying!’ MAGA commentator backed into a corner while defending deadly crackdown
A MAGA pundit on CNN couldn't finish defending a recent Trump administration controversy before an outraged opponent jumped down her throat.
During a panel hosted by CNN anchor Abby Phillip, New York Post columnist Lydia Moynihan tried to slap down claims that Immigration and Customs Enforcement is a "rogue agency" after it was involved in two deadly shootings earlier this week.
"Trump feels very keenly, and folks in his administration, he was elected to do this," Moynihan said. "He was elected because people wanted deportations, and I think it's important when we talk about this issue to provide the context."
She went on to explain the Trump administration's perspective, saying, "They see every day that passes, if we aren't deporting potentially unvetted illegal criminals, that there is an opportunity it will cost them."
However, before Moynihan finished speaking, Ana Navarro, a former Republican strategist and CNN senior political commentator, stopped her and blasted her use of the word "criminals" as they were talking about the two immigrants who were killed by ICE this week, including one who may have been in the United States legally.
"They are not criminals," Navarro said. "And over 70 percent of the people that are getting deported and detained do not have criminal records."
Moynihan tried to defend her point, but she could barely speak over Navarro, who leaned forward and shouted at her.
"Be careful with your words, and be accurate on national TV," Navarro sharply continued as Moynihan kept repeating, "My point is that — " without finishing her sentence.
"You're lying!" Navarro said. "You're lying."
"I'm not lying," Moynihan said before again giving a truncated, "My point is that —"
GOP lawmaker hammered by Dem during fiery hearing on Trump debt: ‘Take responsibility!’
Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA) unloaded on the Republican Budget Committee Chairman on Monday over the climbing debt under President Donald Trump's spending policies.
The clash came at a House Rules Committee hearing, where McGovern grilled Rep. Jodey Arrington (R-TX) over a budget resolution that Democrats say adds $4.7 trillion to the national debt with no offsets.
"I love you, Republicans. You don't take responsibility for anything," McGovern said. "You control the House, you control the Senate, you control the White House, I think you control the Supreme Court, and nothing is your responsibility."
In 2024, Arrington had told the same committee that "not paying for our spending is not only irresponsible, but it is also irrational."
McGovern asked Arrington to confirm that the national debt had risen $3.3 trillion since Trump took office — from $36.2 trillion to $39.5 trillion. Arrington insisted that the statistic was "misleading" before getting pushback from Rep. Morgan McGarvey (D-KY).
"The debt of this country from George Washington through Bill Clinton was about $5.7 trillion," McGarvey noted. "The debt from George W. Bush and Donald Trump alone is nearly double that."
McGovern then pressed Arrington on whether the resolution's deficit spending could really be called an emergency, zeroing in on the bill's tax cuts for wealthy Americans.
"Was it an emergency to give tax breaks to billionaires and millionaires?" McGovern demanded. "Because that was not paid for either."
"It was, in fact," Arrington shot back.
"Okay. All right. So we just have a disagreement," McGovern replied. "You think an emergency is making sure that millionaires and billionaires get tax cuts, big corporations — I just disagree with that. That's a fundamental values question."
"I didn't say that, just for the record," Arrington argued.
McGovern also challenged Arrington over a provision directing $60 billion in new deficit spending toward the Iran conflict, noting the Pentagon already had $75.7 billion in unspent defense funds from a package passed last July.
He called it "irresponsible to spend another $60 billion in taxpayer dollars on Trump's war when you already have $75 billion available."
When asked why the resolution contained nothing to lower everyday costs for American families, Arrington blamed the previous administration.
"I would say that the first step in unwinding the cost of living crisis that was created by the failed policies of your party was to stop the wild, reckless, unbridled spending," Arrington said.
"It sounds like we're back to 'let's blame Joe Biden,'" McGovern replied.
"When it comes to war and tax cuts for the wealthy and big corporations, you guys trip over yourselves to spend tax dollars with no offsets," McGovern charged. "This is your MO. But when it comes to helping American families, Republicans think it would be wasteful spending."
"They can't afford their rent, can't afford to buy homes, childcare costs are out of control, health care costs are out of control," the Democrat said at the close of his remarks. "They wanna know why the hell we aren't focused on that. And instead, we're focused on giving the well-off and the well-connected even more."
"I think people have had it," he added.
