RFK Jr. says he won’t endorse Kamala Harris

(NewsNation) — Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he would not be endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris following reports that he’d attempted to discuss a possible Cabinet position with her if she wins the election.

Kennedy made the statement on X in a lengthy post that included multiple attacks on Democrats, accusing them of being the party of Big Tech, Big Pharma and Wall Street, as well as being being “warmongers.”

He also specifically attacked Harris for her actions as attorney general of California, accusing her of persecuting Black Americans and also saying she gaslit the country about President Joe Biden’s health.

“I have no plans to endorse Kamala Harris for President. I do have a plan to defeat her,” Kennedy said.

His post came after The Washington Post first reported that he had tried to arrange a call with Harris to discuss endorsing her in exchange for a Cabinet position. Harris’ team reportedly declined to meet with Kennedy.

Previous reporting indicated that Kennedy had spoken with former President Donald Trump’s team about a possible role in his administration, should he win in November. Kennedy denied the reporting.

First entering the race as a Democrat, Kennedy sparked fears that he could peel away voters from one or both parties. As the campaign has continued, however, he has struggled in polls and also had trouble raising funds and getting on the ballot in several states.

Kennedy has also been the subject of some of the more bizarre headlines of the 2024 campaign cycle, including the fact that doctors found a parasitic worm in his brain and his admission that he dumped a dead bear cub in New York’s Central Park in 2014 as a joke.
