(NewsNation) — The White House said drones sighted across the Northeast are licensed by the FAA and are not a threat.
Rumors and speculation circulated about the origin of large drones seen in the skies above New Jersey and other states, with fears they could originate from foreign adversaries.
President Donald Trump vowed to get to the bottom of the issue, and in a White House press briefing on Tuesday, the administration said the drones are no threat and are properly licensed by the FAA.
The Biden administration had also worked to downplay concerns over the drones, identifying them as a mix of commercial and hobby drones.
The sightings temporarily stopped when the FAA put airspace restrictions in place but resumed once the restrictions were lifted.
Officials warned drone operators to comply with all regulations regarding registration of drones and airspace restrictions.
Residents were also advised they should not shoot drones down.
