SEAN RYAN ELECTED AS THE NEXT MAYOR OF THE CITY OF BUFFALO

Sean Ryan, Democratic nominee for Mayor of Buffalo, declared victory tonight following a landslide election in which he earned 72% of the vote, winning the three-way race by a decisive 49-point margin. It marks the largest victory in a contested Buffalo mayoral election since 1993.

Since launching his campaign in late November 2024, Ryan has centered his message on restoring the fundamentals of city government — delivering core services effectively and efficiently, improving transparency, and getting Buffalo’s fiscal house in order. In the general election, he appealed to voters as the only candidate with the experience and relationships to tackle the basics while also addressing Buffalo’s crises of poverty and housing affordability.

“I’m humbled by the trust voters have placed in me,” Ryan said. “Tonight, they sent a message — loud, clear, and resoundingly: Buffalo deserves better. It’s the honor of a lifetime to be elected the next Mayor of the City of Buffalo, and I’m ready to get to work.”

In his victory speech, Ryan celebrated the beginning of a new era for Buffalo, pledging to build a city government that’s responsive to the needs of its residents and invests in every part of the city. He reflected on his nearly year-long campaign and thanked the coalition of supporters, volunteers, and community leaders who propelled him to victory. The grassroots effort included a broad coalition of volunteers, supporters in every part of the city, and nearly 1,500 unique donors.

With the election decided, Mayor-Elect Ryan now turns his focus to building an administration ready to deliver a better Buffalo for residents in every neighborhood.

Dem congressional candidate hit with federal charges after anti-ICE protest

The Department of Justice has charged U.S. House Democratic candidate Kat Abughazaleh for allegedly impeding law enforcement following a September protest at the Broadview ICE facility in Chicago.

In addition to Abughazaleh, the DOJ also charged Michael Rabbitt, Andre Martin, Catherine Sharp, Brian Straw, and Joselyn Walsh. Authorities alleged that the group surrounded an ICE agent's vehicle and damaged it.

Abughazaleh, a former journalist, was accused of bracing her body against the vehicle. The indictment also claimed that someone scratched the word "PIG" on the car.

In a video posted to X, Abughazaleh said she was exercising her First Amendment rights.

"This is a political prosecution and a gross attempt to silence dissent, a right protected under the First Amendment," she explained. "This case is a major push by the Trump administration to criminalize protest and punish anyone who speaks out against them."

A video shared by DHS in September showed Abughazaleh being thrown to the ground by an officer outside the Broadview facility.

"Individuals and groups impeding ICE operations are siding with vicious cartels, human traffickers, and violent criminals," the post claimed. "You will not stop @ICEgov and DHS law enforcement from enforcing our immigration laws."

"I love watching communists get body slammed by ICE," Trump insider Laura Loomer responded, according to MSNBC.

"Good work," Fox News host Laura Ingraham agreed.
