Action packed promotional lineup offers bargains galore
With tariffs, prices at the pump that go up daily, and rising grocery costs that continue to hit the wallet, how refreshing is it to find one corner of one’s life where costs are actually going down, and with proper planning, can deliver fun and family entertainment at almost ridiculously low price points.
Our Buffalo Bisons, the AAA affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, held their annual media briefing this week, unveiling their ticket packages, new merchandise branding, food and beverage offerings and what is new this season, as well as tweaking their ticket pricing options. Lots to unpack, and as usual with our baseball team, full of fun and lots to be excited about.
Let’s start. $10 tickets. That’s right, a little retro going back to 2021, after the team returned to Sahlen Field post Covid lockdown, and all seats in the building were general admission and priced at $10. The team is bringing back the $10 ticket for select games. All Thursday night games, 11 in total throughout the season, will be priced at $10 for all fans, and these will be for reserved seating in the best available locations. Additionally, select concession items will be priced at $3.
That $10 ticket is further extended to fans 14 and younger, for all March and April home games, and that includes Opening Day and will also coincide with Easter vacation break, where the team is home for 6 games against Syracuse, all 1:05pm starts. On Opening Day weekend, the first 1000 kids through the door will also receive a coupon for a free hot dog, soda pop or cotton candy.
For the single ticket buyer, expect to pay $19 for a ticket to most games. But again, there are deals. Fans can buy a “flex pack”, basically a packet of 12 vouchers, redeemable for any game in any combination, for a total cost of $192. That’s $16 a ticket. And the most insane deal of all? A “starter pack”, which is a ticket to all 15 games in March and April for total cost of $60. Do the math and that’s $4 a ticket.
And there will be a limited number of “family value ticket packs”, where $99 gets 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 soda pops and discount voucher at the gift shops. This deal will be available for the ever popular Star Wars Night, Harry Potter Nighty, and all 18 fireworks events.
“At par” pricing will be extended for tickets purchased in Canadian funds, good for any game on the schedule. For folks on this side of the border, don’t be rummaging through your coin jars looking for loonies and toonies to buy tickets. This pricing offer is limited to fans traveling from Canada, a most welcome and needed gesture of warmth and friendship to our neighbors, especially during these times.
There are more offers.. Ticket and a restaurant buffet for $34. A “craft beer pack”, 2 tickets and 4 craft beers for $64. Even a special for the 4 “dog days” events where the ticket price includes free admission for your pet along with a free dog treat.
Again, planning your Bisons dates and outings will be important to unlock the best deals. Day of game pricing at the ticket window will cost more. Without advance planning expect to pay $24 at the stadium per ticket.
The team is rolling out yet more intriguing food options. The changing buffet at Pub at the Park will feature a taco station every Tuesday, and all you can eat wings every Wednesday, with a different wing sauce each week, culled from the menus of the annual Buffalo Wing Festival.
Bisons General Manager Anthony Sprague presented the entire lineup with enthusiasm and support of a management team that spent the entire winter putting together this entire lineup of ticket packages, concession enhancements and promotional events. “It was such an exciting year last year being a part of the Blue Jays championship run. We had so many of our guys on that roster, some of them who spent a lot of time here, and some who spent a little bit of time on rehab and then got back to the Jays.”
The popular Star Wars night returns on June 13, complete with light sabers. Harry Potter night is set for August 22. The incredible drone show which dazzled fans this past season is set for July 25. And with America set to celebrate its 250th birthday of this great experiment with democracy which holds to this day, the Bisons are planning a three day celebration at their games on May 15, 16 and 17. Assistant General Manager Brad Bisbing reports, “it will be one of our bigger fireworks events of the season and we’re still putting together all sorts of appearances and special commemorations along with our Armed Forces. By summer, the 250th birthday of our country will most likely be a thing all over, and we’re kind of getting ahead of events and plans by rolling out this commemoration early.”
Lastly… Cosmic Baseball. On the heels of the incredibly popular Savannah Bananas, which packed the house here in Buffalo in 2024, the team is bringing this unique baseball experience to Sahlen Field. The July 3rd game is already sold out, but tickets are still available for the event on July 4. There is a lottery for available tickets. Go to the team’s website.
It all starts in just two weeks… Opening Day is set for Friday, March 27 against the Scranton/ Wilkes Barre Rail Riders at 1:05pm.
