Buffalo Mayor Christopher P. Scanlon welcomed the University at Buffalo Bulls football team to City Hall, presenting them with a proclamation for their achievements during the 2024 season. Joined by Head Coach Pete Lembo and UB Athletic Director Mark Alnutt, Mayor Scanlon declared February 5, 2025, as “Buffalo Bulls Football Day” in the City of Buffalo.
The recognition celebrates the Bulls’ season under Head Coach Lembo, who led the team to a 9-4 record in his first year and a 26-7 victory over Liberty in the Bahamas Bowl on December 21, 2024—their first bowl win in six years. Mayor Scanlon also recognized UB Athletic Director Mark Alnutt for his leadership and commitment to the university’s athletic programs.
During the presentation, Mayor Scanlon praised the team not only for their on-field success but also for their dedication to academics, highlighting the 12 players named to the 2024 Academic All-Mid-American Conference team.
“Buffalo is a city that values hard work, perseverance, and teamwork—qualities that this team has demonstrated all season long,” said Mayor Scanlon. “Their accomplishments have brought pride to our city and inspired young athletes across Western New York.”
