Baskin Delivers Operation Primetime Funding

Resources will help vital community organizations to provide summer programming

(Buffalo, NY) Erie County Legislator April Baskin announced that she has secured more than $25,000 in Operation Primetime funds for several community organizations. The Delevan-Grider Community Center received $7,500. The Buffalo Center for Arts and Technology (BCAT) received $9,000, as did Peace of the City. Operation Primetime is a county grant program that is focused on summer programming for area youth.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has upended the lives of our young people,” said Erie County Legislator April Baskin. “Students were forced into distance learning for the final part of the school year, and so many youth programs were cut short in the spring. Now, more than any time in our recent history, we need to provide youth with outlets to explore and grow. That is why I was committed to getting funding to these organizations this summer.”

The Delevan-Grider Community Center is an essential resource for the East Side community. They offer structured recreational activities, nutritional services and mentoring programs.

BCAT is an arts and training center that provides high school youth with educational and career-centered opportunities. Youth explore career pathways in an empowering environment guided by caring staff.

Founded in 1992, Peace of the City is based in the West Side and offers a range of programs and services that provides young people with the skills, tools and values needed to succeed.
