Hold Onto Your Hat

Its been a time honored tradition for WNYmedia folks to spit out a list of endorsement for candidates we see fit to serve.  While they really don’t amount to much I figured I would just send a few shout outs for some of the races that matter to me and that I generally care about. So here goes:

JOHN GLASCOTT FOR ERIE COUNTY SHERIFF

As if anyone needs an explanation on this one.  But seriously, if you have even the slightest urge to vote for the current Sheriff, you’re either living under a rock or sniffing glue. If you are living under a rock, there is a good chance Sheriff Howard couldn’t find you anyways…So vote Glascott!

MARK POLONCARZ FOR ERIE COUNTY COMPTROLLER

Mark has done an excellent job in his first term as comptroller and to replace him with a hand picked collins funded puppet would be sending Erie County back in the wrong direction.  The idea that Mark is too political is asinine. He has proven that he can get the job done and continue to be the fiscal watchdog for Erie County.

TOM LOUGHRAN FOR ERIE COUNTY LEGISLATURE

Tom may be a casper milktoast candidate but he is not a “career politician” unlike his opponent who, while her restaurant may be good, her politics makes me throw up in my mouth a little. Tom’s latest campaign mail sealed the deal for me. Vote for Tom!

DR. KEVIN HARDWICK FOR ERIE COUNTY COMPTROLLER

While I don’t support the County Executive funded candidates, I am making an exception for Kevin Hardwick, who appears has gotten the least funding of the “Collins Four” (if any at all).  If you listened to Kevin on the radio every Sunday, you know where he stands on alot of issues.  Plus, Kevin teaches politics for a living, yet since I jumped ass first into local politics he has yet to win a race. So I’d like to see if the professor can practice what he has been preaching in classrooms and airwaves for the last few years.

Besides, that whole Michele Ianello campaign fiasco with the WFP volunteers has left many unanswered questions. Politically motivated or not the entire situation is very unsettling.

RICHARD “JAY” ANDERSON FOR AMHERST TOWN BOARD

Even though I don’t technically live in Amherst (like literally a block away), I feel compelled to throw my 2 cents in for an old friend, who yes, happens to be a Republican.  While we definitely don’t see eye to eye on a lot of national issues, this isn’t a national campaign, its local, hyperlocal, and one thing is clear, Jay is a guy who will work hard for the residents of Amherst.

It’s always good to see friends getting involved in local politics. Young, new fresh ideas is what this community needs and should be embraced and therefore, I ask you to support Jay and give him a chance  on Tuesday.
