The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra is excited to announce the2012-2013 BPO Rocks Concert Series, presenting five amazing concerts blending awesome rock artists with your BPO at Kleinhans Music Hall.

The BPO Rock Season kicks off on Friday, September 28th with the Grammy-award winning folk rock duo the Indigo GirlsAmy Ray and Emily Saliers, will perform new arrangements of their timeless favorites with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra such as Closer to FineLeast ComplicatedGalileo and  music from their fourteenth studio record Beauty Queen Sister. “The Indigo Girls personify what happens when two distinct sensibilities, voices, and worldviews come together to create something transcendently its own,” Rolling Stone magazine.

 

One of the most popular groups in music history, Three Dog Night, takes the stage backed by your BPO on Friday, October 12th performing exciting new orchestral arrangements to signature chart-topping hits including Mama Told Me (Not To Come)Joy to the WorldBlack and White andOne. These well-loved hits, delivered in their unmistakable style will be enjoyed by audiences spanning generations.

 

Michael Cavanaugh, who wowed audiences on Broadway and in Buffalo with his renditions of Billy Joel classics, returns to Kleinhans on Saturday, October 27th to perform Elton John’s Greatest Hits including Tiny Dancer, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Philadelphia Freedom and more.

 

WNY Singer-songwriter Natalie Merchant joins the BPO on Saturday, February 16th for a performance featuring classic standards and selections from her most recent recording, Leave Your Sleep. Natalie began her career with the band 10,000 Maniacs in the 1980s and over a 30-year career has earned a distinguished place among America’s most respected recording artists with a reputation for being a prolific songwriter with a compelling artistic vision and a unique, captivating performance style.

Concluding the BPO ROCK Series and back by popular demand, The Music of Led Zeppelin returns to the BPO on Saturday, May 11thBrent Havens and Randy Jackson from Windbourne Music will feature a massive array of songs from the Zeppelin catalog which are a perfect fit for orchestras including Stairway to HeavenHeartbreakerBlack Dog and Immigrant Song.
