Yesterday, County Supreme Court Justice John Michalek ruled in Sergio’s favor to allow the mayoral candidate the opportunity to primary against Byron Brown on the Conservative Party line.

Erie County Conservative Party leadership had attempted to prevent Sergio from pursuing an Opportunity To Ballot (OTB) primary campaign against the current mayor. But when presented with technicalities, Justice Michalek tossed out Erie County Conservative Party Chairman Ralph Lorigo’s challenge and ruled in Sergio’s favor.

Sergio issued the following statement.

“I believe that the people should decide who runs for office, not political party bosses.

On September 10, Buffalo’s registered Conservatives will be given a choice. No longer will Conservatives be forced to choose someone hand-picked by an out-of-touch party chairman who has all but abandoned his Party’s principles.”
