The “Ice boom” is a series of 22 steel pontoons, keeps ice on the lake from flowing down the Niagara River and causing damage to shoreline properties and the Niagara Power Project intakes.

This guy “Superman” on youtube happened to be at the right place at the right time.

Okay, maybe he got a little too excited about capturing the moment huge chunks of ice came tumbling over the brick wall at Mathis Arch in Fort Erie, Ont. ( I mean he’s probably Canadian after all)

But let’s give him some credit… it’s a pretty amazing video of the awesome, sometimes unpresuming power of the Niagara River
