Governor Kathy Hochul issued an executive order instituting a statewide moratorium on new hyperscale data centers and pausing certain state environmental permits for up to one year while a regulatory framework is developed to protect ratepayers, the grid, farmland and communities.

The governor's office released a July 16 public schedule showing Gov. Kathy Hochul will be in Albany and New York City and will hold a 9:30 a.m. roundtable in Albany on data centers.
