Local Republicans Schedule Fake Migrant Crisis Community Forum In Cheektowaga

AI can’t even come up with this level of stupidity:

The same people crying to anyone who will listen that they don’t have answers are now going to ‘answer’ your questions in some fake community forum in Cheektowaga this week

Erie County Democratic Chairman Jeremy J. Zellner today issued the following statement:

“The fake ‘Migrant Crisis Community Forum’ scheduled for Tuesday in Cheektowaga will be nothing more than a MAGA Republican, Q-Anon conspiracy theorist-led political rally, a desperation move designed to breathe life into the campaigns of candidates who lack all credibility on this or any other issue.

“The guest list is a MAGA Republican who’s who that includes candidates for Cheektowaga town supervisor and the county legislature, along with the Erie County Republican Party Chair and the state Senate minority leader.

“Do Republicans really believe the public will be fooled by such obvious gaslighting, any more than they were by the AstroTurf outrage we saw at the Cheektowaga Town Board earlier this week?

“And will the media be allowed to observe and ask questions?

“Not likely, considering that when a reporter asked the GOP county executive candidate for her own plan, she had nothing to say.

“There’s a very simple reason for that: She is completely out of her depth, and she knows it.

“Erie County is facing a very serious challenge, one that requires actual leadership to resolve. It is easy to push conspiracy theories on social media and fan the flames of outrage at a campaign rally; it is much harder to find real solutions to real problems.

“You can be assured that Tuesday’s ‘forum’ will not be about solutions, and all about tearing our community apart for the sake of a few votes.”

‘Massive cover up’ fears raised as House panel splits on clemency for Ghislaine Maxwell

Ghislaine Maxwell's condition to testify under oath — but only under the condition of clemency — has split House Oversight and Government Reform Committee members over whether President Donald Trump should grant her that pardon, Rep. James Comer (R-KY) told Politico on Wednesday.

Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein's co-conspirator, was deposed by the committee and invoked her Fifth Amendment right to decline to answer the group's questions. Trump is the only one with the power to pardon her, something he has not yet ruled out.

Comer told Politico that he did not favor a pardon for Maxwell, a former confidant to the late financier and convicted child sex offender. When asked whether striking a deal with Maxwell could provide useful testimony, Comer did not share who on the panel supported granting her clemency.

"A lot of people do," Comer said.

"My committee’s split on that," Comer said. "I don’t speak for my committee."

"I think it looks bad," he added. "Honestly, other than Epstein, the worst person in this whole investigation is Maxwell."

Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) said that Democrats on the committee collectively oppose a pardon for Maxwell.

"That would be a huge step backwards, and, quite frankly, so disrespectful to the survivors," he said in an interview. "She is a known abuser. She is a known liar."

"If the DOJ or Oversight Republicans are out there trying to negotiate some sort of pardon that is... not only a huge slap in the face to this investigation, to anyone, to the American public," Garcia said. "It’s a part of a massive cover up."
