Chimera to Replace Savage on Erie County Legislature

The members of the Erie County Democratic Party Committee in the 3rd Legislative District
voted unanimously last night to endorse Town of Tonawanda Councilwoman Lisa M. Chimera as the replacement for outgoing County Legislator Peter Savage.

Savage currently chairs the Legislature and is expected to be appointed to a vacancy on the Buffalo City Court bench. He had been expected to run for reelection but declined his
nominating petitions earlier this week.

Based on the committee’s vote, ECDC’s Committee to Fill Vacancies will submit Chimera’s
name today, which is the deadline for filling open ballot spots when designating petitions have been declined.

Chimera has served for 12 years on the Town Council and is a teacher in the Ken-Ton School District.

The Committee will also submit the name of Thomas P. Casey, a former engineer from Aurora, to replace East Aurora Trustee Michelle Schoeneman in the 10th LD against incumbent Republican Joseph C. Lorigo, as well as Kate Eskew, a retired school teacher who will take the place of Jerome Janik on the ballot to challenge Republican John Mills in the 11th LD.
