Cheektowaga Highway Republican Candidate Stachura Paid Over Questionable Timesheet

It appears ‘honesty and transparency’ probably aren’t really the best qualities of Republican candidates for Town of Cheektowaga Highway Superintendent Darryl Stachura.

With his son also employed by the highway department and his wife working a politically connected job specifically created for her in Cheektowaga, Stachura is running his campaign for Cheektowaga Highway Superintendent on get this… “commitment, transparency, honesty and experience”.

But when it comes to filling out his own timesheets at the highway department, “honesty and transparency” leave a lot to be desired.

From a recent video obtained by WNYmedia Network, the Republican candidate’s commitment seems to be only to himself receiving a full day’s pay for NOT a full day’s work.

The cameras at the Highway Barn show Stachura leaving work and getting into his own personal vehicle on August 25th at around 11:56 am.

Shortly after, he drives out of the parking lot and does not appear to return to work for the remainder of the day.

When Stachura filled out his timesheet for August 25th, heswore by his signature that he worked a full day.

Does this seem like the ‘honesty and transparency’ the Town of Cheektowaga needs right now in the upcoming election for its Highway Department?

Stachura’s questionable timesheets lead to much bigger questions about the lack of accountability from the current leadership at the Highway Department, who have a history of questionable behavior and little to no accountability:

This is just one example of a number of recent dates that Stachura may have fudged his timesheets. If it happens while running and election, the question remains how much time over his 31-year tenure at the Highway Department has he taken from taxpayers?

And why is the department still using the honor system to track work hours in 2023?

A full investigation into the Cheektowaga Highway Department is needed by town officials. But in the meantime, you can vote on Tuesday, Nov. 7th, for a new direction in the Cheektowaga Highway Department.

‘Worrisome’: Ex-staffer warns new Trump administration would be stripped of key restraint

Donald Trump's second administration will find itself unable to rely on a key restraint that prevented the former president from pursuing bad federal policy during his first term, a one-time staffer warned Wednesday.

Former Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Matthews appeared on CNN to share her fears that Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, will surround himself with easily swayed staffers should he regain the White House in 2025.

"It's going to be a bunch of yes men and women who will do and say what he pleases," Matthews warned. "It's extremely worrisome because I think that competency and experience are gonna be out the window."

Matthews issued this warning on the heels of a Time Magazine exposé detailing the actions Trump hopes to take as commander in chief, among them prosecuting President Joe Biden, mass deportations and government pregnancy monitoring.

The former press secretary suggested the threat Trump presents would not be evaded should he lose the presidential election on Nov. 5.

"We know with Donald Trump that an election is only fair if he wins," Matthews said. "It almost sounded like a threat of political violence if he loses."

Matthews then argued future "yes" staffers will not be able to rely on a key tactic Trump's former White House team successfully used to dissuade him from pursuing bad policy: raising the specter of reelection.

The argument will be rendered moot by presidential term limits, she explained.

"If he is elected president again, that won't be a concern," Matthews said. "You're not really going to be able to steer him off of some of these bad policies."

Finally, Matthews expressed her outrage that Trump has suggested pardons for people convicted on criminal charges related to the Capitol riots on Jan. 6, 2021.

"He calls them hostages and patriots," Matthews said. "It's really just disgusting to me."
