Trainwreck Kinda Daily: An Earthquake Hits Western New York

There I was at the gym on a Monday morning at 6 am.

Sweating and excited to see what the day had in store for me. My day was just getting started and then something unprecedented happened.

As I’m doing squats listening to some music at full volume; the building starts to shake. My initial unrealistic thought was that everyone was giving me a round of applause for doing squats on a Monday morning.

Then my first rational thought was someone just drove into the building. I assumed that was the case and I continued on with my set. In between reps, I open up Twitter expecting to see an empty timeline because it’s so early. WRONG again!

Come to find out it was an EARTHQUAKE in BUFFALO, NY of all places.

I had no idea we were capable of being on the receiving end of an earthquake and was quite literally shook (I know, I’m sorry).

So, I go up to the front desk where a group of a few people was trying to sort it all out. I said to the guy “Did you know that was an earthquake?! I had no idea we could get those.” To which he replied, “Yeah we live on a slope and that’s what happens.”

First, we have to deal with all this snow and cold and now we have the potential of just getting hit with random earthquakes. Truly unbelievable.

Well, I never expected my week to start like that but at least we’re all awake so go grab a breakfast sandwich and a coffee and get your day started.

Captain’s Log 2/6/2023 – Buffalo Just Got Hit With a 4.2M Earthquake (yes you read that right)

This was my video reaction when it was first reported as a 4.2 but it turns out it was confirmed a 3.8!

Here are some of my favorite tweets from when the earthquake first happened:

What was your experience with the earthquake?

After failing to brokerage peace with Iran, Trump meets with China empty handed

President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing for a high-stakes summit this week.

Despite the event being viewed as a potential turning point for ending the U.S. and Israeli war against Iran, reports Axios, Trump arrives without a negotiated agreement after months of failed diplomatic efforts.

The Trump administration has pursued an Iran deal since early April but rejected Tehran's counterproposal Sunday, describing it as "unacceptable."

The situation was further complicated Monday when Iranian Ambassador Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli announced Iran's readiness to support a Chinese-proposed four-point peace plan focused on establishing security and development in the Persian Gulf region, according to an automatic translation of their post on X.

The Chinese government has not publicly disclosed details of the proposal, reports The Wall Street Journal.

Iran's endorsement of China's plan, rather than Trump's, creates significant complications for the Beijing summit discussions.

Journalist Charbel Antoun wrote for The Hill, Trump enters negotiations with weakened leverage having failed to broker a deal before the meeting.
