The Amherst Police Department issued a traffic advisory for Old Home Days at Island Park in the Village of Williamsville. The event runs Tuesday, July 14 through Friday, July 17, 2026, with daily hours from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Motorists and residents should expect significantly increased pedestrian and vehicle traffic in and around Island Park, particularly along Main Street. Drivers may experience temporary delays and possible lane closures; motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes when possible.
Safety reminders
- Pedestrians must cross only at intersections, marked crosswalks or the HAWK signal; jaywalking is prohibited.
- Pedestrians should use caution, stay alert and make eye contact with drivers before crossing.
- Drivers should slow down, remain alert and be prepared to stop for pedestrians.
Additional event guidelines
- Expect heavy pedestrian and vehicle activity throughout the event, particularly during evening hours; attendees are asked to be patient and courteous.
- Anyone under 16 will be prohibited from the festival at Island Park after 6:00 p.m. unless accompanied by an adult.
- Anyone under 18 is not permitted to carry backpacks during evening hours.
The advisory was issued by the Amherst Police Department’s Intelligence & Analysis Unit and authorized by Officer C. Johnson (dated July 14, 2026). The department says its top priority is public safety and thanks the community for its cooperation.
