Buffalo Arts Studio will open Presence, a new exhibition by Western New York sculptor and educator Robert Booth, with a reception on Friday, Aug. 28 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The show will be on view at Buffalo Arts Studio’s Tri‑Main Center gallery beginning Aug. 28, 2026.
Presence collects sculptural and two‑dimensional works drawn from Booth’s Prompts series. The artist arranges recurring motifs — everyday imagery such as houses, pencils and chairs — into allegorical scenes that invite viewers to assemble their own meanings from the combinations of symbols. The work explores themes of time, consequence and memory.
Booth is a longtime Western New York artist and retired Distinguished Teaching Professor at SUNY Fredonia. He holds a BFA in sculpture from the Massachusetts College of Art (1976) and an MFA from Syracuse University (1978). His work has appeared in more than 100 solo and group exhibitions, including past presentations at the Burchfield Penney.
The opening reception on Aug. 28 is scheduled as part of M&T Fourth Friday at Tri‑Main. The studio is located at Tri‑Main Center, Suite 500, 2495 Main Street, Buffalo.
