20 search warrants executed in the second round of police raids

“Our approach to ridding the streets of drugs and guns has been relentless and will only intensify in 2012,” said Mayor Brown. “Last year we saw crime continue to fall, while citizen involvement increased. This is another example of the community partnering with the police department to make stronger communities and a safer city.” The raids began at 9 a.m. Friday, and continued through early afternoon. 20 search warrants were executed mainly in the Bailey/Delavan, Bailey/Genesee and the Central Park neighborhoods. Officers seized various amounts of marijuana, crack, cocaine and weapons, including a loaded shotgun and a number of hand guns. Since the beginning of 2012, 102 warrants have been issued and 80 arrests have been made. Buffalo police, Buffalo Narcotics Squad, Buffalo SWAT, and the Buffalo K-9 unit were assisted by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, Town of Tonawanda Police Department and the Cheektowaga Police Department.]]>
