Citi in Buffalo Partners with Feeding Children Everywhere to Package 25,000 Meals to Feed Hungry

Buffalo, NY – This month, Citi celebrates its annual Global Community Day. On Saturday, June 8, Citi volunteers at the Citi office in Getzville will be joining the efforts of their colleagues, family and friends in more than 400 cities spanning 90 countries and territories to engage in more than 1,400 service projects in their local communities.

As part of a Citi Foundation Pathways to Progress initiative that helps make our local communities stronger, Citi in Buffalo is collaborating with Feeding Children Everywhere, an organization whose mission is to activate people for a hunger-free world. Together, in four hours, 100 volunteers will go to work packaging 25,000 healthy Italian Veggie Pasta meals to help feed Buffalo’s hungry! The Buffalo City Mission will distribute these meals to hungry children across Buffalo.

“It will be a high energy day, filled with music, hair nets, and a lot of enthusiastic smiling faces”, said Robin Wolfgang, Citi, Vice President and Communications Officer. “Volunteering is part of our culture and Citi employees generously invest their time and talent in our community throughout the year. We are excited to be participating in a project that has such a dramatic impact on feeding individuals and families who are food insecure in the communities where our employees live and work.”

“Today, we are blessed by Citi’s tremendous act of generosity,” said Aubrey Calhoun, Associate Executive Director for the Buffalo City Mission. “For years, Citi has been a valued partner of the City Mission. As we enter the summer months, and our community shifts its focus to warmth and renewal, the generosity of their organization and its volunteers will nourish so many individuals and families in need. We thank them for their support and look forward to continuing our fruitful partnership.”

Since 2010, Feeding Children Everywhere, with the help of partners like Citi, have distributed more than 92 million meals to 42 states in the U.S., 52 countries on five continents, and engaged more than 622,000 volunteers all over the world.
