The Erie County District Attorney’s Office announced that 21‑year‑old Cassandra Baughman of Buffalo pleaded guilty July 15, 2026, to one count of Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree (a Class D felony) in Erie County Court.
The plea was entered before Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan. According to the prosecutor’s release, Baughman’s guilty plea resolves the indictment; the office said she was permitted to enter the plea to the second count in full satisfaction of the indictment.
The charge stems from conduct on or about Dec. 11, 2025, when Baughman, while acting in concert with two other defendants, allegedly engaged in conduct that created a grave risk of death to a child. The district attorney’s release reiterated that defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Baughman remains released under the supervision of the Probation Department. She faces a sentencing exposure of 2 1/3 to 7 years in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. The DA’s office said it will have no further comment while the case is pending prosecution.
