Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz was joined today by elected officials, business and community leaders, members of the cultural and not-for-profit communities, members of the labor community and concerned citizens as he delivered his 2022 State of the County address at the Buffalo Bills Field House in Orchard Park. The address, the ninth State of the County Poloncarz has delivered, was held before a live audience for the first time since 2019 and included updates on Erie County’s robust and sustained pandemic response and recovery as well as a number of significant county investments. These include not only RENEW Plan investments happening all around Erie County but also new funding that will aid small businesses, support children and families, and enhance workforce and economic development. Poloncarz also unveiled his four-point “Back on Track” agenda to help children recover from the pandemic, which includes purchasing a mobile air filtration system for every classroom in Erie County, and detailed major new county investments in arts and cultural organizations and the new Bills’ stadium.
“The state of Erie County is resilient, strong, and focused on building a better county today for generations of residents still to come. Following our strong and ongoing response to the pandemic our community is already looking to the future, ensuring that children and families have the supports they need moving forward, small businesses get the backing they need to improve their storefronts and attract customers, and our workforce is trained for available, in-demand jobs,” said Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz. “Additionally, significant investments in our arts and cultural organizations, our parks, our infrastructure and in a new stadium will energize Erie County, putting people to work and shaping the county of the future. It is our responsibility to leave our county better for the next generation and with these investments we are doing that.”
