Hochul, AG James: Kalshi lost lawsuit against New York Gaming Commission

NEW YORK — Governor Kathy Hochul and New York Attorney General Letitia James released a joint statement on July 8, 2026, saying that prediction market operator Kalshi lost its lawsuit against the New York Gaming Commission.

In the statement, the two officials said New York’s gambling laws are intended to protect consumers and that they will continue to hold gambling platforms accountable. The statement read in part: “New York’s gambling laws are designed to protect consumers. Kalshi tried to ignore them. Yesterday, they lost in court. We will continue to hold all gambling platforms accountable to the law – and that includes prediction markets.”

The statement was issued by the Office of the Governor and the Office of the Attorney General and was distributed via the governor’s press office. The release did not include the court decision itself, the court that issued the ruling, or further details about any enforcement actions.
