Buffalo man sentenced in federal cocaine, fentanyl case

A Buffalo man convicted in a federal cocaine and fentanyl trafficking conspiracy was sentenced to prison, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York said July 9.

According to the office, David Washington, 46, was convicted of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine and fentanyl. The release says Washington was sentenced to serve 252 in prison, but the unit of time was omitted.

Prosecutors said the conspiracy began in February 2019. Investigators later searched residences tied to Washington on Bennett Village Terrace, Rogers Street and Bailey Avenue in Buffalo and seized drugs and cash.

The office said a February 21, 2020, search at the Rogers Street home turned up fentanyl, a fentanyl mixture, crack cocaine, cocaine, heroin and $246,775 in cash. A search at the Bailey Avenue residence yielded $151,350. The release said total cash seized was $1,133,505.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Timothy C. Lynch and Evan K. Glaberson.
